In addition, Indiana businesses can qualify for Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification. This certification is available for business owners who are socially and economically disadvantaged.
To qualify as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, a business must be at least 51 percent owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals who:
- Are U.S. citizens or permanent residents
- Possess expertise in the field
- Control daily business operations
- Have a personal net worth of less than $1,320,000 (excluding the value of their primary residence and assets of the firm applying for DBE certification)
